| |
Remain alert for approaching storms. Listen to local radio (1640 or 1500 AM)
Be prepared to move to shelter Take shelter at once in the basement orlowest level of a brick building. Do not use elevators. Stay away from windows and glass. |
| If You’re Indoors When a Tornado Approaches: |
| Go to an interior hallway in the basement or lowest level of the building. DO NOT pull the fire alarm. Stay away from windows and glass. Move outside when the storm has passed and you have been alerted to do so by a short siren blast. |
| If You're Outside When a Tornado Approaches: |
If possible, get inside a building at once. If you can’t get to shelter lie in a ditch or
low lying area. Be aware of the potential for flying debris and flooding and stay away from glass, small buildings, and fencing. If you are in a vehicle get out and into a building or,
if there is no time, lie in a ditch or other low lying area. |
